Lowri Davies

Magwyd Lowri Davies yn Aberystwyth. Wedi iddi raddio gyda gradd dosbarth cyntaf o Ysgol Gelf Caerdydd yn 2001, derbyniodd Ysgoloriaeth Artist Ifanc yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yn yr un flwyddyn. Ymunodd Lowri gyda Stiwdio Fireworks yng Nglanyrafon, Caerdydd ym mis Awst 2003 ac graddwyd gyda Rhagoriaeth ar ei chwrs M.A. mewn Dylunio Serameg ym Mhrifysgol Swydd Stafford yn 2009 ac fe dderynniodd Gwobr Cymru Greadigol, Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru 2010-2011.

Mae treftadaeth Gymreig Lowri yn ffynhonnell bwysig o ysbrydoliaeth iddi. Mae ei gwaith llestri tseina wedi eu haddurno gyda darluniau o adar, tirwedd, blodau a phlanhigion. Mae'r rhain yn cyfeirio at gasgliadau tsiena nodweddiadol o ddreseri Cymreig a chofroddion serameg. Mae Lowri bellach yn defnyddio technegau cynhyrchu a ddysgodd hi ar ei chwrs M.A. mewn Dylunio Serameg.

Cynhaliwyd sioe unigol gyntaf Lowri yng Nghanolfan Grefft adnabyddus Rhuthun ac mae wedi ei chynrychioli gan y Ganolfan mewn arddangosfeydd yng Nghymru ac yn rhyngwladol. Mae Lowri eleni yn cynrychioli Cymru yn ngwyl ryng-Geltaidd y Festival Interceltique de L'Orient yn Ffrainc.

Lowri Davies

Lowri Davies was raised in Aberystwyth. Since graduating from Cardiff School of Art in 2001 with a first class degree, Lowri was awarded a setting-up grant by the Arts Council of Wales and won the Young Artist Scholarship at the National Eisteddfod in the same year. Lowri has been a member of Fireworks Clay Studios in Cardiff since August 2003 and has since received a Distinction in MA in Ceramic Design from Staffordshire University in 2009. She is currently a recipient of a Creative Wales Award from the Arts Council of Wales to enable her to develop her work further.

Lowri Davies' Welsh heritage is a major source of inspiration. Vibrant illustrations of birds, 'traditional' landscapes, floral and fauna adorn her own distinct bone china tableware designs of tea sets, vessels and vases. These reference typical china displays on Welsh dressers and ceramic souvenirs. Recent production techniques using bone china are influenced by her period of study on the MA Ceramic Design course.

Having had her first solo show with the prestigious Ruthin Craft Centre, Lowri Davies has been represented at major exhibitions in Wales and beyond. Lowri will be representing Wales at the Festival Interceltique de L'Orient, France this August.
